CARE House

CARE House is Montgomery County’s Child Advocacy Center.  Care House is a multi-jurisdictional collaborative team comprised of Social Workers, Medical Personnel, Police Officers, Prosecuting Attorneys, and Victim Advocates. This multidisciplinary team works together to counsel and treat victims, investigate allegations of physical and sexual mistreatment of children, and prosecute offenders for those abuses.

During my 23 years as a Montgomery County Assistant Prosecuting Attorney, I had the privilege of being a vital part of CARE House for 14 years.  During this time, I was a part of the Multidisciplinary team assigned to prosecute these cases, was a supervisor who trained other attorneys how to properly prosecute these cases, and as a member of Care House’s Administrative Committee, which met and discussed the organization and management of all the members of the multidisciplinary team.

I am also proud to have been involved in the startup of “Hug Me Don’t Hurt Me”, a child abuse awareness campaign which continues to this day during Child Abuse Awareness Month every April. You’ve likely seen many of these Billboards across Montgomery County warning of the dangers of child abuse and urging the community to speak up and protect the most vulnerable in our community.

My years of involvement with CARE House enabled me to grow in my understanding of the effects of trauma on children, knowledge that I believe is vital for a Juvenile Court Judge.
